Beginning Trail Rider Clinic

The Cherokee County Saddle Club will be holding a Beginner's Trail Ride Clinic for CCSC members that are new to trail riding, want to introduce a new horse to trail riding or simply want to learn more.

When: Saturday October 17th Classroom Session from 10 AM to 2 PM
Sunday October 18th 1 hour trail ride
NOTE **You must attend the Saturday class session to be eligible to attend the Sunday ride.
Where: Saturday's Session will be held at the home of Mo and Lynn Vaughan 675 Allison Lane in Ball Ground
Sunday's trail ride will be held at Pine Log Mountain Wildlife Management Area.

Saturday Classroom Session: Some of the topics that we will be covering are: basic horse knowledge, clothing,tack types and fit, trail etiquette and safety tips. We will be doing demonstrations for each topic and are allowing brief questions to be answered during the sessions. Extensive questions and anecdotes will be held at the end in a Q&A Session.
Sunday Mentored Trail Ride The Trail Ride will be from from 1 - 3 PM. We will begin in the parking lot checking proper fit for saddles, bridles, saddlebags, etc. After all evaluations have been completed you will be accompanied by a calm experienced trail horse and rider for a 1 hour trail ride. This will be an in and out on a road with small gravel. There will not be any bridges or water to cross but we will stop to water the horses in the creek.
What to Bring: Saturday: bring a sacklunch, drinks and a chair
Sunday: bring your horse, tack, etc. for a trail ride.
Price: Free to CCSC Members.

If coming from the south turn right off the exit.
If coming from the north turn left off the exit.
Airport Dr. dead ends into Hwy 5, turn right.
First road on left is Allison Lane, cross railroad tracks,
go to top of hill, turn left, third house on left

  Pine Log Mountain Wildlife Management Area

HWY 20 West out of Canton towards Cartersville.
Cross over the Bartow County line. Slow down to turn right on Brooks Rd, NE.
Come to a stop sign and bear Left on Stamp Creek Road. This is a windy, curvy road. You'll pass a church on the right...that's about 3/4 of the way there. (My guess is the total mileage on Stamp Creek is about 4 miles) A few more turns and you'll come upon a gravel parking lot on your right with 3 turn ins.
